Ramez Hakim has more than 50 years-experience in public accounting, risk management, business consulting, corporate governance, board membership and practice management with Deloitte. He has been involved in serving a number of dynamic and complex public and private organizations in the United States and globally. His experience spans a broad range of industries, including construction, retail including US auto dealerships, real estate, distribution, energy, health care, financial services and manufacturing including European automotive. He has been involved in assisting clients in mergers and acquisition services, strategy and other business consulting services.
He has more than 28 years of in-depth involvement in the international activities of Deloitte, the largest professional services network in the world, in management, member firms and client service, with an emphasis on Continental Europe and the Middle East. He led the negotiations, acquisition and integration of the Arthur Andersen practice in Sweden. His experience included change management, integration, cultural and other post-merger activities of various practices. During his long career with Deloitte, he lived in Brussels serving in the European Regional office, and in Sweden (1998-2005) coordinating the Global Nordic activities and restructuring and managing the Swedish practice. He has been involved in the Central European countries in restructuring the major Deloitte practice in 1998 and in risk management during 2007-2008.
He has served on a number of Deloitte Boards: USA, Sweden/Norway, Finland, Middle East and Iceland. He also served as the Chairman of the Board of Deloitte Sweden/Norway and Iceland. He served as the Regional Partner for the Middle East in DTT and the Global Operations Group in New York. He was also the Managing Partner of the Deloitte practices in Connecticut and Oklahoma.
He also served on The International Advisory Board for the Governor of Oklahoma (1986-1987) and The University of Oklahoma. He has participated as a moderator in the World Economic Forums, MENA (Middle East North Africa). He has also served on and chaired a number of arts and other community boards in Oklahoma and Connecticut, including the Tulsa Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, Philbrook Museum, Arts & Humanities Council and Chairman of Tulsa Ballet Theatre. He served on the Board and Chaired Audit Committee of ANERA (American near East Refugee Aid) Washington D.C. He is a life time Board member of Tulsa Ballet in Oklahoma and currently a Board member of AMIDEAST in Washington DC.
Ramez is currently an independent member of the Boards of Director of Azadea Group, a leading retail fashion and lifestyle holding company with portfolio of over 50 international franchises, such as Zara, Mango and Max Mara, operating in many countries in the MENA Region; and Acres, a real-estate development company and owner/operator of retail shopping malls in Lebanon. He is also the Chairman of both companies’ Board Audit & Risk Committees. He serves as a member of the Governance & Nominating, Human Resource & Compensation and Investment Committees.
He is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants). He is a graduate of the American University of Beirut, Bachelor of Business Administration in 1963. He is certified by IMD for completing The High-Performance Board Program in Switzerland.
Since his retirement from Deloitte US in he conducts his consulting activities through RMH Consulting LLC. His main activities have been with the US Firm, DTT and European member firms as an advisor and board member and Corporate Boards post 2012.
