Kamil Marc Salame
Kamil M. Salame is a Retired Partner and Senior Advisor to CVC Capital Partners where he previously oversaw the North American investment activities of CVC Strategic Opportunities, the firm’s long-term private equity fund. Previously, he was Global Co-Head of Financial Services investing. CVC is the largest global private equity firm with its origins outside of the United States. The firm employs more than 600 professionals in 26 offices and 21 countries and more than $160 billion of committed capital from its investors. He joined CVC as a Partner in 2009. Previously, he was a Partner and Member of the Management Committee of DU Merchant Banking, the private equity business of Credit Suisse, where he served in various capacities over 14 years.
Mr. Salame currently serves on the boards of Riverstone International (U.K.), and Vitech Holdings (U.S.). In recent years, he was a founding investor and director of Fidelis Insurance Holdings Limited (London) and Avalon Aerospace Limited (Dublin), a director of Brit Insurance (U.K.), and a director of Cunningham Lindsay Group (U.S.). Mr. Salame has completed more than 35 private equity transactions and has served on the board of various public and private companies in financial services, real estate, industrials, media and business services.
He received a B.S. from Georgetown University, an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School, where he was an Editor and Fellow of the Columbia Journal of World Business, and a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He is admitted to practice law in New York, Connecticut and Washington, D.C.
Mr. Salame has, for more than ten years, served on the Board of Directors of Social and Economic Action for Lebanon (S.E.A.L.). S.E.A.L organizes and funds economic development projects throughout Lebanon, irrespective of religious or political affiliation of the community served, with a goal of supporting understanding, tolerance and economic opportunity for disadvantaged people. S.E.A.L.’s key areas of focus include the economic empowerment of women and environmentally sustainable industry.
He also serves as a Senior Member, and previously served as a Trustee, of Lebanese International Finance Executives (L.I.F.E). L.I.F.E., with c. 1,000 executive members globally, is dedicated to increasing connectivity among members of the Lebanese diaspora who work in finance and related industries, providing educational and work opportunities for Lebanese students hoping to study and work abroad, and increasing transparency and accountability in the banes financial system.
He is a member of the Ignatian Family Circle board of advisors to the University and a member of the Georgetown Blue & Gray Society. Among the other civic causes he has long supported is Answer the Call (f/k/a The New York City Police & Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund).
Mr. Salame was awarded the 2020 Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
